Corona 2020: Initiating a New Era of Leadership
*This piece was written in Spring 2020 after the outbreak of the pandemic.
One way or another, my sense is that an outcome of our current situation is that coronavirus is going to flatten the leadership playing field and initiate a new era of leadership.
What do I mean by that?
I mean that when something like this arises and exposes the core fears that govern most human beings at a base level – fear of death, isolation, crisis, loss and pain – all those who are unable to be present with these fears, in themselves and in others, will struggle.
Indeed, all those who are holding positions of power for reasons based in ego, ambition and anything other than soul, will be shown to be unfit for task.
It doesn’t matter whether they are in leadership positions or not. If they are people who have not done the inner work to be able to be present with the core vulnerabilities of what it means to be human, and who have not yet been initiated by the fierce grace of life into the stability of soul, love, purpose and clarity that exists on the other side of these fears, their inability to point the way forward will be exposed.
My sense is that what is happening in the world right now is going to be the beginning of a whole new type of leaders coming forth.
They will be leaders grown in the fire of humanity’s collective journey.
They will be leaders guided from the unwavering clarity of their own souls, who relate to humanity as a single family, and who have been trained by the tests and initiations of life.
They may look very different to what we are used to.
They may or may not have gone to the good schools. They may or may not come from money. They may or may not have any previous experience in politics and business. You get the idea.
Whatever their background, they will be recognised as leaders because of their dedication to our collective evolution, the depth and inclusivity of their vision for humanity, their maturity, their intelligent love, their open heart, their will to do what is necessary, and their recognition of our collective potential and purpose.
They will be recognised as leaders because they already embody the way forward.
As this crisis exposes many of our current leaders as unfit for task, watch for these new leaders coming forth from the remains of our collective systems.
