When Initiation Comes For Us

There are times and seasons in life where initiation comes for us.

Initiation into a deeper layer of who we truly are.

Soul initiation.

These times are invariably ones of great challenge.

They cut straight through our spiritual materialism that’s gotten comfortable in the sweet dream that a truly aligned life is one of flow, abundance, and ease.

There are times for this, of course.

And there are times when Life’s priority is not our ease.

When she shows up with a blade between her teeth, an open bleeding heart, and a demand for her children to take that next step deeper in the journey they set out on.

Such times show up in a variety of Life’s well-known ways:

Perhaps a health crisis, the death of a loved one, facing our own death, or just being taken down into the dark mud of our own psyche for reasons unknown to the mind and only sensed in the heart.

We enter these processes of initiation on our knees.

With a felt sense of blindness.

Indeed, in the ancient temples and pyramids there were often passages so small and tight that in rituals of initiation the initiates had to crawl through in the pitch-black dark to symbolise this part of the path.

Such times bring crisis.

They force emergence.

They offer the death of patterns that must be released.

And our emergence into a new phase of life where our soul is more nakedly here.

Those who have passed through such times know the fierce wisdom of the process.

That they are a time of profound blessing.

Where the guiding hand of some deeper love than we have ever known is actually drawing closer to us that ever before.

Humanity as a whole is now entering such a time.

And it will need those who have passed through such portals individually to stand as leaders, guides and wayshowers in the collective process.

Taking the trembling hand and reminding the frightened voices in all of us that imagine that maybe all is now lost,

That facing what now must be faced,

Is the pathway to the All that can be gained.
